Sisters Lifting Sisters   Word Alive!   Shumbael Shelter

SLS Ministries is a mission of three works: Sisters Lifting Sisters, Word Alive, and Shumbael Shelter. The ministries operate to provide social resources, counseling and educational services for charitable purposes. We meet the emotional and psychological needs of persons seeking social assistance and counseling services. It is our intent to provide people with assistance in obtaining social services, education, counseling and mentoring. It also provides services in conjunction with other existing service organizations. We meet monthly for life applicable workshops and seminars that will be useful to individuals and beneficial to the community. The ministry conducts educational programs through meetings, conferences, seminars, workshops and publications. SLS provides services without regard to race, religion, gender, sexual orientation or national origin.

History

SLS was formed five years ago for the purpose of providing workshops that focused on topics that affected today's woman.  In those five years they have held conferences locally and as far away as Coastal Georgia, traveled nationwide giving workshops, retreats and seminars.  Annually they reach the community in fundraising for a national breast cancer support organization, feeding families during the holiday season, provided relief efforts during the Katrina emergency and provide emergency relief for families through fundraising.
